Kagumoini is one of the leading factories in Kenya in terms of quality and consistency. They are located in the county of Nyeri, near Karatina town at an altitude of 1868 masl. In this factory the cherries are selected by hand, pulped, fermented for 12 to 24 hours without water and then washed, classified and soaked overnight. They are then dried on African beds for 20 to 25 days. The water used to process the coffee comes from the nearby Ruiru River and is reused to avoid the contamination of nearby water flows.​
 
​The Kagumoini Coffee Factory is part of the Mugaga Farmers Cooperative Society (FCS). In 1993, Mugaga FCS and its four factories became independent from Mathira FCS. In 2005 it merged with Gatina, bringing the number of factories under its management to five, which today are: Kagumoini, Kiamabara, Kieni, Gathuga and Gatina.
 
The Mugaga Cooperative has 4,802 active members (farmers), and they produce 563,952 kg of green coffee per year in a total cultivated area of ​​1,486 ha. The management is made up of nine selected members from each factory who report to a supervisory body of three members from different factories.
 
Farmers are supported by farm management services to increase productivity and quality. The fieldwork that is carried out consists of weeding, pruning, fumigation, application of fertilizers, mulching and technical advice. Farmers can buy inputs on credit from the Baragwi Farmers Cooperative Society.
